Government Advocacy for Ending Child Trafficking and Human Slavery

Save the Children is dedicated to eradicating child trafficking and human slavery worldwide. We believe that a collaborative approach involving governments at all levels is crucial to achieving this goal. Our advocacy efforts focus on creating robust legal frameworks, enhancing enforcement mechanisms, and fostering international cooperation.

justice iconStrengthening Legal Frameworks

We work tirelessly with policymakers to ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive laws that specifically target child trafficking and human slavery. This includes advocating for legislation that criminalizes all forms of exploitation, provides protection for victims, and ensures severe penalties for perpetrators.

jail iconEnhancing Enforcement Mechanisms

To effectively combat trafficking and slavery, we support the establishment of specialized law enforcement units trained in identifying and responding to these crimes. We also advocate for increased funding and resources for these units to enhance their capacity to investigate and prosecute offenders.

global cooperation iconPromoting International Cooperation

Human trafficking is a transnational crime that requires a coordinated global response. We engage with international bodies to promote cross-border collaboration, information sharing, and joint operations aimed at dismantling trafficking networks. Our efforts include advocating for treaties and agreements that facilitate such cooperation.

support iconSupporting Victims

Our advocacy extends beyond prevention and prosecution; we are committed to supporting victims through recovery and reintegration programs. We push for government policies that provide access to healthcare, education, legal assistance, and safe housing for survivors of trafficking.

act now iconRaising Public Awareness

We collaborate with government agencies to launch public awareness campaigns that educate communities about the signs of trafficking and how to report suspicious activities. By raising awareness, we aim to prevent exploitation before it occurs.

Through our comprehensive advocacy strategy, we strive to influence government policies at local, national, and international levels. Our ultimate goal is a world free from child trafficking and human slavery where every individual can live with dignity and freedom.

What can YOU do about forced labor?

small key iconThe Bureau of International Labor Affairs maintains a list of goods and products likely produced by child labor or forced labor in violation of international standards. This list is primarily published to increase public awareness, and to encourage concerned consumers to make efforts to learn more about the supply chain and to use their purchasing power to send the message to corporations that child labor and forced labor are not condoned.

As of 2020, the list included 155 goods produced in 77 countries around the world. (IBLA, 2019)
